The specifications for this job were to get the walls painted a neutral color, so that the condo could be rented more easily.

There was very little repair, and minor prep work was involved.  The job took just about 7 days, which was under the estimate.

This contact was a cold call, from a business card I had left in a consignment shop.  I was really excited about doing this job, when I went to look at it, for she was planning on using a really bold color for the walls.

Her house is an older one, down to the horsehair plaster walls, and there were many cracks that needed repair; and those repairs had to be well done, without deviating from the overall feel of the house- which meant that I was not making the walls or trim ‘perfect.’  I believe that I did the job within those parameters and was very happy with the job.  I am returning to her house in mid January, to work on the kitchen and a small bathroom/ hallway combination.

This job was completed in just under 2 weeks, and was completely on target with the estimate I provided to Janet , prior to receiving this job.

My return to Janet’s was a success.  The kitchen was a very large project, as there were 45 cabinet doors to paint!

Janet has turned out to be a gem of a customer, not only because I have done 2 jobs and am hoping to return to do a 3rd in a couple of weeks, but I really have enjoyed being able to get to know her a little bit.  It has been a pleasure to do work for her.

About the job:

The room I am currently working in is a finished basement.  The ceiling sustained a leak and a sizable hole in the ceiling needs patching, along with other more minor ceiling repairs.  The walls have settled and sustained some cracking, and a bit of the trim caulking needs to be repaired.

Yesterday, I got the patch put in the ceiling and did the first coat of ‘mud’ on the major cracks. Today is sanding and remudding day.

Yesterday, I did the caulking and applied the last (I hope) coats of mud.  The big ceiling patch has 4 coats of mud on it, and the wall repairs are drying and awaiting more sanding.  Today I am in Portsmouth, for a supply run and to check on some things that needed doing here.

This room was finished in 2 days. The doors were painted on another day and that added about 4 hours to the project.

This is work that I just finished. There were a number of cracks at the ceiling line that needed repair, as well as other minor wall repairs and some ceiling repairs.

This room represents about 55 hours of work, from general breakdown and setup of the room, to finished product.

The walls are painted 2 different colors-although they are very close tones and the photos don’t show the difference all that well. The ceiling is painted in a 25% tint of one of the wall colors to make the transition softer.
